Facts and Info

Directed by Jim Sheridan who last helmed the Oscar-nominated 'In America'.

The film is produced by 50 Cent friend Dr.Dre and is also produced by Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg who also produced Eminem's debut film '8 Mile' and who is mentioned many times in Eminem's music early work.

Samuel L. Jackson was offered a role in the film, but turned it down, citing his dislike for rap stars in feature films. In the past, the actor has been vocal about musicians appearing in movies. 50 then backfired at Jackson on UK television where he said the real reason why Jackson turned down the role is because he wouldnt of been the whole star of the movie and would have had to share it with 50, and this is why he turned down the role. Jackson didn't reply.

Music legend Quincy Jones is helping with the music in the film.

Originally titled 'Locked and Loaded.'

LDJW Verdict

It was only a matter of time before Fiddy as his street name is, went into movies. Following his close friend and record label boss Eminem, after his mega money spinning turn in '8 Mile' along with a huge soundtrack which was even nominated for an Oscar. A movie was bound to happen, sooner or later. With 50 being the sole 'star' the rest of the cast are new and unknown, but this should not drop the film in anyway. '8 Mile' was mostly the same although Brittany Murphy was a great supporting act. Something which 'Get Rich, or Die Tryin' will lack. The film though does promise a good turn from 50, early word on the film is positive. But one thing is for sure fans will rush out to see the film it could easily pass Eminems huge opening weekend of over 50 million back in November, 2002. No details on the soundtrack but be sure to expect some new tunes from 50 to support the film. free stats
